Slack's $45 Enterprise+ price is one arm of a live Optimizely test
Today's capture of Slack's Enterprise+ plan shows a public price of $45 per user/month, billed annually, on a card that read "Contact sales for pricing" as recently as yesterday's capture (Oct 13).

WHY IT MATTERS
For buyers and competitors, the $45 figure on today's capture is not yet a committed list price — anyone citing it should expect it could disappear again on the next capture. For the category, it's a sign that even contact-sales enterprise tiers are being tested for public pricing exposure rather than adopted outright, which could push other vendors to run the same kind of experiment quietly instead of committing to a clean reveal. Watch whether Slack's page settles on one arm over the next few captures, or keeps flipping — settling on $45 would turn this into a real disclosure; settling back to Contact sales would mean the test lost.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Third Enterprise+ price-display flip in 10 days: shown Oct 4, hidden Oct 13, shown again Oct 14
- 8-fetch probe: Optimizely loaded on 8/8 fetches, $45 shown on only 4/8 — PRICES 2 sets, variance: $45(4/8)
- Slack's typical cadence is ~81 days between real pricing changes; this flip cycle is far faster
- 57 pricing-page reveals across 53 companies in the last 180 days, but none toggling back and forth like this
THEIR RATIONALE
Slack has not announced a pricing test publicly, and the page carries no experiment badge, promo end date, or changed copy — the only visible sign is what's running under the hood: an Optimizely script loaded on every fetch and the price toggling between two states across sessions. Slack's own cadence for real pricing changes averages about 81 days; three distinct flips on this same line within 10 days is far outside that pace, which points to a live test rather than three separate pricing decisions.
THE SIGNAL
The sharper read: Slack isn't trying to reveal or hide its Enterprise+ price — it's measuring which framing performs better, likely testing whether showing a number helps or hurts contact-sales conversions. That's a different motion from the broader transparency wave moving through the market: in the past 180 days, 57 pricing changes across 53 companies disclosed a previously-hidden price, including Constructconnect and Shopify this quarter — but those were one-way moves, not toggles. Slack flipping the same line back and forth within ten days looks like active experimentation, not a settled decision.
IN CONTEXT
Slack's Enterprise+ page has swung between "Contact sales" and a public $45/user/month three times in ten days: it first showed $45 on Oct 4 first showed $45, switched back to Contact sales on Oct 13 hidden again, and is back to $45 in this capture. That's far faster than Slack's own roughly 81-day cadence for real pricing changes, and a live probe found Optimizely running on every fetch with $45 appearing on only half of them — the signature of an A/B test, not a decision. Slack isn't alone in testing public enterprise pricing: Constructconnect and Shopify both moved contact-only tiers to disclosed prices this quarter, but neither has flipped the page back afterward. Until Slack's capture history stops flipping, treat $45 as one arm of a test rather than a committed Enterprise+ price.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
i think hiding your top price is a big mistake. there's nothing worse than booking a sales call just to find out you can't afford it, and it's slow for both sides. slack has got this right, as its top plan used to say contact sales and now it says $45 a user a month, billed annually. so put a price on your top tier and keep the contact sales button under it.
