PRICING METRIC

Stigg overhauls pricing: seats out, managed entities and BYOC in

Stigg retired seats and subscriptions as the core metric, introducing managed-entity billing.

WHY IT MATTERS

This accelerates the industry shift from seat-based to hybrid entity/usage models as AI agents multiply, raising the bar for billing tools that cannot enforce in the request path. Watch whether free Build converts cleanly to Pro/Scale as entity counts grow past 10k, and whether BYOC wins enterprise deals from frontier labs that previously built in-house or paid per-event premiums.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Build is free forever with 10,000 entities (soft cap: new creation paused, existing continues)
  • Pro is $399/mo ($331 annual) including 10,000 entities then graduated pricing up to a 100,000 ceiling
  • Scale uses custom committed blocks from 50,000 up to 2,000,000 entities with overages at next-tier rate plus 15% premium

THEIR RATIONALE

Stigg positions the change as pricing that scales with what it enforces—not seats—defining managed entities as any object (customer, user, AI agent, team) receiving real-time decisions. It optimizes for AI products where agents and credits make human seats obsolete, while BYOC eliminates per-event costs and keeps data in the customer's VPC for sovereignty and predictable high-scale bills.

THE SIGNAL

The raw tier table understates the full pivot to a “usage runtime” with sub-5ms enforcement, zero-overdraft credits, and governance as the product, not just a pricing page update. Live X and Product Hunt reaction is constructive and upbeat rather than backlash-driven: the free Build tier for AI startups and no-event BYOC are called out as differentiators while pure seat models are widely declared dead across the category. Competitors still bill per-event over the cloud; Stigg’s move forces the metering/entitlements layer to become infrastructure for agentic systems.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

🔍 (real) Stigg 2.0 just shipped — "the usage runtime for AI products." As more tools go usage-based, whoever makes usage-based billing invisible wins the infrastructure layer underneath everyone else. #AI

edit: ended up trying stigg and it’s been pretty solid for this kind of setup. feels a bit more structured around product stuff without getting too heavy, so it’s been working well for what I needed.
