Retool ends $10k Enterprise AI credit offer, pools 10,000 credits monthly

Retool removed the limited-time Enterprise offer that promised customers signing a contract by September 30, 2026 AI credits worth up to $10k per year of their contract term; the offer is no longer shown.

WHY IT MATTERS

Retool is converging on a simpler, more predictable credits model after more than two years of tweaking the formula — unlimited, then capped, then per-builder, now flat-pooled. That progression mirrors where much of the category is headed: fewer tiers of complexity in usage-based AI pricing, even if the net effect for a given customer varies. Watch whether the flat 10,000 pool holds for Enterprise or becomes the next thing Retool revisits once usage patterns settle.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Enterprise AI credits: 1,000/builder + 4,000 pooled → flat 10,000 pooled/mo
  • Retool's 6th credits-pattern change since 2024
  • 2nd credits change in 3 months (prior: Jun 29, 2026)
  • Credits/usage billing touched 136 of 1,151 changes in 180 days

THEIR RATIONALE

Retool frames this as simplification: a single pooled number replaces a two-part builder-plus-pool formula that required customers to do their own math. The signing bonus's expiration was built in from the start — it was explicitly dated to September 30 — so its removal is just Retool following through on its own deadline rather than a new decision.

THE SIGNAL

This is Retool's sixth credits-related pricing move since April 2024, and its second in three months: in June it ended unlimited AI credits and capped monthly pools between 250 and 10,000 across plans. That cap of 10,000 is now literally the new Enterprise number, suggesting Retool picked a ceiling in June and is now using it as the flat Enterprise allotment rather than a per-builder formula. Credits and usage billing is one of the most active patterns in the index right now — 136 of 1,151 tracked changes in the last 180 days, across 109 companies, touched this pattern, including Synthesia's move to credits on the same day. Retool's own history here is unusually dense for a company that otherwise changes pricing only every 76 days on average.

IN CONTEXT

Retool has circled back to its AI credits formula more than almost any pricing lever it has, most recently in June, when it ended unlimited credits and capped pools at 250–10,000 across plans. That 10,000 ceiling is now the flat Enterprise number, replacing the old 1,000-per-builder-plus-pool split along with the expiring $10k signing incentive. The timing lines up with a broader credits reshuffle across the index: Synthesia moved to credits the same day, and companies like Framer and N8n have adjusted credit allotments within the last two weeks. Retool's own cadence — a change every 76 days on average — makes two credits moves in three months a notable acceleration.
