Aws Kendra Expands Free Tier to Include GenAI Enterprise Edition, Offering 750 Hours for First 30 Days

Between the Oct 1, 2024 and Jan 1, 2025 captures of Aws's pricing page, Pulse recorded 6 changes: Amazon Kendra restructured from 2 editions to 3 editions with modular component pricing (base index, storage units, query units, connectors); Free tier expanded to include GenAI Enterprise Edition (in addition to existing Basic Developer Edition), both offering 750 hours for first 30 days; GenAI Enterprise Edition connector pricing changed to flat $30/month (includes up to 500 hours sync) from previous $0.35/hour when syncing model; GenAI Enterprise Edition introduced at $0.32/hour ($230.4/month base cost) with 20,000 documents and 8,000 queries/day capacity; Kendra Developer Edition renamed to Basic Developer Edition (pricing unchanged at $1.125/hour); Kendra Enterprise Edition renamed to Basic Enterprise Edition (pricing unchanged at $1.4/hour). Pulse files it as a packaging change (package change, freemium change, add-on change, new plan, plan renamed) with an upward direction. Pulse's latest capture (Jun 13, 2026) lists GenAI Enterprise Edition at $0.32 subscription, Basic Developer Edition at $1.13 subscription and Basic Enterprise Edition at $1.4 subscription.
